Tartan Leggings

Stopped a girl in the street and took a picture of her tartan leggings. Love the colours and the fact that they're not trousers, but leggings. Win for clothes of the skin-tight variety!

What do you have that's tartan ?

Location #2

This would be an awesome photo shoot location :

This is the outside of a cafe in Haggerston. It's very rustic and the waitress is super friendly.

The interior is cute and artistic:

I almost wouldn't want to put models in the frame!

Show me your ideal locations :)

Trainers on the Tube

I went to London today to get out of the house and work in a different environment. On the way I took pictures of these shoes which I really like:

There are loads of versions of these out now. I think these are just about loud enough without being overstated. They're chunky without excess and can be worn with pretty much anything to sport up an outfit - shirt and jeans, skater skirt or maxi dress. Win win :) Check them out here in Triads with a 25% discount or for a more retro feel here for a cool light blue version.

I also spotted these:

A pretty red head at Baker Street was sporting these chunky buckled boots and let me take a picture.

These are again perfect for a lot of different looks - messy grunge, dark and pretty or just to add some height and attitude. I'm definitely going to be on the look out for these on eBay ! River Island do a similar pair, as do Boohoo for £35.

Hope your Monday has been a good start to the week,

Tin Bucket

This is where I put all my essential make-up. I found it on the ground outside a pub...which is why this blog is called "Should Have Washed This." It's the perfect size for everything I need to fit in it and it's so cute and shiny.

What do you put your make- up in ?

What's on your door?

I use my bedroom door as a sort of mood board where I stick images I've collected over the years. I never take anything off it - if i haven't got anymore room on my door I usually just slot in the postcard/ business card/ photo like so:

So I've got a postcard from the V&A when they were doing a costume exhibit , a flyer for a 90s RnB club night at Babylove Oxford  with Beyonce and Blue on the front, a flyer from a play boasting a great big pug,  Chinese characters on a post card from Hong Kong, a ticket from Rihanna's Loud Tour and a drawing of a Norwich  street grid.

This is what's in the left hand corner:

A page from a Topshop Mag from 3 years ago - it's not the same one but check this out . ( I think both the model and the styling create a perfectly compsed image), a club night flyer with Craig David wearing a Santa's hat, an address tag from my friend's suitcase( which I stole so I could surprise him with a present delivered to his house), and a photograph of a kitchen sink which I think is beautifully bleak.

This is what's on the other side of the door:

A golden hat from this year's Christmas Cracker, another beautifully styled page, ripped out of the same Topshop shoot, an Einstein birthday card and a post-it note! My door is probably my favourite part of my room (aesthetically speaking ) because it holds so many colourful memories of fun//creative/thoughtful things I've been into. Thing usually make it onto to door if either 1) it's beautiful to me or 2) captures an important memory <3

What's on your door?

Lots of Love, G x

Kiss Your Life

I want a baggy Tshirt which has the  first line of this passage on it:

I have something  similar but it's a wooden framed canvas board was given to me by my cousin. She got it shipped from the US for my 18th...as a sort of "Say hello to the big wide world":

Check out all of Sugarboo's canvas bags here, they do lots of inspirational quotes which I love...and not just on bags, but also on metal signs, postcards, photo frames etc. I might suggest that they start doing t shirts!

Hope you're having a good weekend :)

Magazine Hamper

I found this wooden hamper in my house (yay free things!) I think we were given some posh cheese/crackers/marmalade in it. And it's now my new book container. I like the rustic quality of it... and it's sturdy  so is currently being occupied by an old copy of VOGUE, my kindle, several Industry mags (my university's fashion magazine...read about it here) and my notebook:

Location Ideas #1

How great would this be as the backdrop for a photoshoot! I'm currently jotting down ideas for more shoots next term...would like to get some life size horses involved.

Also I'm in love with anything brightly lit and golden. You can't see properly but I'm wearing a vintage military jacket and a cream and black polka dot dress with cream brogues(below).

£20 on ebay...originally from Office. They also do brown and black.

Soap And Glory Me

I was recently given a whole Soap and Glory kit which includes: body butter, scrub, shower gel, hand and heel cream and a hair turban. I really like Soap and Glory's branding - it's instantly recognisable and has an air of luxury about it ...all with an affordable price tag.

THE SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE™ MINI

This "Scrub Of Your Life" is priced individually at £2.50...as is this "Righteous Butter" (below)

Definitely recommend this - especially for extra dry skin :)

Wear Has This Coat Gone?

So I have/had this beige trench coat from H&M (£15 in the sale) and now I have no idea where it is... (which is fine, because the thing about living next to about a dozen charity shops is that it is never hard to find a decent coat for under 5 quid.) This picture was taken near Temple station in London, it's quite a quiet and calming area to walk around:

This tote is my favourite bag that I own. It was a present from therapy (£45), I was given gift vouchers for the House of Fraser, so it is OK that I know how much it was. It's got a really useful cross body strap and two separate pouches inside for things like keys and Vaseline. They don't sell it anymore but this is a bit similar:
http://www.harveynichols.com/womens-1/categories/designer-bags/totes/s461334-grace-small-grained-leather-box-bag.html...but comes with a hefty price  tag...as does this:

http://www.asos.com/Chanel/Vintage-Heirloom-Chanel-Leather-Box-Bag/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2517934. Both are gorgeous bags though!

Karen Millen does a studded version for £200: http://www.karenmillen.com/studded-leather-box-bag/refined-rebel/karenmillen/fcp-product/492GR08201?lng=&ctry=null.

The cheapest version I could find however, is this: http://www.theoutnet.com/product/214169 by Alexander Wang for arond £80. But I'm sure if you rummage around for long enough something similar will turn up at a charity shop!

Also, you can't see it well but I'm also wearing a gold sequinned top underneath which will get a proper post of its own soon.

Goodnight, G x

What I'm Wearing Right Now

Love this outfit. And it's mostly from Primark and the cardigan is borrowed from a friend (American Apparel £52) The skirt is corduroy (£6) and the top is a chiffon sort of material (£8). I will probably kill this outfit for myself within the next month by wearing it too much.

Oxford Fashion Society

So I just wanted to quickly mention Oxford Fashion Society. It's a blog run by Oxford students and I'm currently Head of Photography. Every other week I come up with a concept for a photo shoot, find models ( I usually stalk people on the street), a location and a photographer...and then shoot the whole thing. It's a lot of fun and it's a shame that this will be my last term doing it.
Here are a few of the concepts we've shot so far, check out the links below for more of our stuff:

Jacket: Vintage
China man necklace: Vintage
Playsuit: Flamingo (a pay per kilo shop in Barcelona)

Dresses: Zara, Vintage

Cap: Calvin Klein
T-Shirt: Handmade
Shorts: Ralph Lauren (£4 from charity shop!)

Playsuit: Flamingo

Made To Fit

I was in Vietnam over the summer and I got this made:

It's one of my favourite go-to party outfits because it's so easy to wear. I've never been able to wear a jumpsuit before because I'm 5 foot nothing and nothing ever fit me so well before. I drew the shape out for the shop owner and chose the material. She had the most eccentric patterns on display and if I was able to spend more money I would have got this made in emerald green silk as well. I'm also quite proud to wear it because I designed it - it's my baby :) It cost about £30 which is such a bargain for what it is.

Hope you like it, G x

WhatIWoreInBudapest

Just before the New Year, I went to Budapest with three friends. I was bloody freezing the whole time we were there which gave us a chance to pile on the knit wear. What featured most from my tiny rucksack of a wardrobe was this massive Faux Sheepskin Coat I got from ebay for £8! I could genuinely be naked under there and it would still keep  me warm:

And hat from Oxford Fresher's Fair for free!

Hope you're having a fab start to the year, G x

Last Outfit of 2013

On New Year's Eve I went to my best friend's house for bants times with the galzzz. A bottle of wine in, my dress was replaced by pyjamas and and I was tucked firmly into my sleeping bag. It's a shame that the dress didn't get more exposure because I absolutely love it:

Sorry the picture is not great, will take one of me wearing it soon. It reminds me of this 1960's Shift Dress from Liberty...just more modern. Oxfam's Online Shop describes it as "perfect for a dark winter romance" and I agree!

I found the above picture on Google Images which then led me to Oxfam Online, check it out http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/womens-clothing. One of my resolutions is to be more frugal this year because if I'm not careful I can spend a staggering amount on clothes...and it's really not sustainable as a student. As they say: Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves!

Much Love, G x

First Post:

Hi, my name is G - I live in London and I'm a student. I'm in my final year of university which makes me nervous/excited about the future. I'm blogging because I want to show you lots of things (mostly fashion related)...and it was one of my New Year's resolutions. I love my friends to death and I hope I get to live with them in Central London at some point.

Love and Peace, G x
